Artist Statement
What exactly a beautiful piece is? In which aspect, we will consider a ceramic piece as a beautiful artwork? When we are just looking at a pottery piece, how could we really tell whether or not that piece is a good or not? Due to a person's personality and experiences, there are millions of ways to interpret a same piece of work. Each person has his or her own preference, as for me, I enjoy the piece which conveys the idea of purity and simplicity. Therefore, purity and simplicity are the main two theses that I am pursuing in my recent works. Rejecting all the unnecessary designs of one piece is also one of the main points of doing my current project. I hope to make a pot only for pot itself, but not for the sake of art. Instead of calling me an artist, I would like to be called as a potter, a potter who makes pots for people to have a better experience with using them.
