The majority tend to ignore the multifunction of daily used tableware. It might be due to the simplistic of forms of tableware, which leads to the fixed mindset of using tableware. Therefore, reshaping pots is my initial approach to drawing people's attention to the everyday tableware. To some extent, I also believe that there are certain relationships between food and tableware.  Tasting experiences will change as the forms of tableware change. Even though altered plates or bowls may not be viewed as functional food containers anymore, I still hope to see how the abnormal tableware can fit in daily life. As people display different habits when it comes to using tableware, they will have various ways of using and valuing tableware accordingly.

My first step was to use a potter's wheel to throw pots and followed only with a precision knife and hands to cut and alter the form after trimming. Considering the relationship between pots and food, I intended to choose much more glossy and lustrous glazes in order for the light to be reflected towards food.

Celadon is a glaze which originated in China, later spread to other regions in Asia. It resembles jade and is applied to many tableware as well. I did not use the same type of celadon to my pieces but took the idea of a jade-ish glaze to my work. Jade makes me feel exquisite and elegant, which were the features that I pursued in my SIP.
